Joel Therien started a website called Kiosk.ws and sold hosting and also was giving away a training video called AtoZ Millionaire and the advice I got from it is the same that he teaches today.
I am trying to find where I “stored” my copy of the A to Z Millionaire but it will have to wait for now.
I started my career by getting paid to operate a computer and 36 years later I am getting paid to program a computer. Now I am trying to do this without a big company paying me and so far it is as slow as I am but is happening. As I progress towards my goal I have done everything I shouldn’t have and a lot that I should have and now just doing it is starting to pay off.
I believe this is in part due to finding one thing to do daily and do it everyday. I add other tasks to the list that I do daily but if I miss a day I still have the main task done and can handle the set back. This was huge for me and I am using it as motivation to keep going.
The latest thing I have decided to add to the list is the title of this blog post and that is to make money for the time I am on the computer. Since I have a job that requires that I am using a computer this will be much more time than I will have to spend once I reach the goal. This will require careful tracking to measure what the results will be.
Betty Buckley was on Eight Is Enough and I remember being surprised when I found out that she sang “Memory” from the musical “Cats”.
I have always had a fascination with people who learned how to remember things and that is why Harry Lorayne fascinated me. I learned about him from ads I saw in my Grandparents Organic Gardening and Farming magazines. He did things like going on TV and remembering everyone in the audience and proving it by greeting them at the door as they left. I was interested in remembering peoples names because I have what they call “stage fright” and I can just go blank when I run into someone unexpectedly and of course I am always with someone who wants introduced.
I remember a great saying that went something like “I like to remember my mistakes so that I recognize them when I repeat them”. I am forever struggling to remember and learning that just because you know how your brain works does not mean that you know how to use it or in my case are willing to put forth the effort. Because learn means more than just reading about it.
But there is a second ingredient that you must have to move forward and that is motivation. Without motivation your contentedness is your undoing. My memory was good enough to get by and so I did not try to improve with the mental exercises I know I should be doing but as I pursue my dream of working from home and creating a business that will make me wealthy I have started to do those things that I learned and were not motivated enough to put into action.
I have started to work on improving my memory using the methods outlined in the memory book and I will share these exercises with you.
To begin you need a copy of the “Memory Book” written by Jerry Havilcek and Harry Lorraine and you can usually find a copy at the library but I recommend buying a paperback copy.
Affiliate Funnel has taught me more than any other site on the internet about being successful with Traffic Exchanges and Safe Lists and I attend their Saturday noon webinars whenever I get a chance. Something happened today that literally blew my mind and made me realize that maybe I really have learned something from my years as a professional in the Information Technology business that can bring a different perspective.
Spreecast was having some problems today and I made the suggestion that the host should reboot her PC. I have no idea what her set up is and believed her when she said she couldn’t and I can understand feeling uncomfortable doing this during a webinar. But others also said their devices restarted slowly and I want to tell you I would not accept that and neither should you.
If you are sitting, standing, leaning or holding a screen in front of you that is NOT controlling a server then you should be able to reboot your “device” in 3 minutes or less. With most of the time much faster.
While running a server is an entirely different issue the devices that connect to it should be easily re-startable.
I know I sound like a handbook but that is how you should be viewing your laptops and tablets. I have not used a PC in a long time but I do remember not turning mine off for awhile and just pulling the plug. No better way to make sure everything is working. Remember when all your devices were “wired” to the PC? And who can forget the sound of a modem?
So to be clear if you are running a server do NOT reboot your device. If you are running a server you know what to do and if you don’t then I hope I am not using your server.
While there are differences between shutting off your laptop and just restarting your laptop I also think leaving your laptop on is just not a good idea. All 3 of my laptops restart fast. The one I am using to type this has a one terabyte hard drive. I don’t run a lot of programs at one time and I run Trend Micro to protect me from the hackers. If I am in cpanel updating a table I might get hung up. I just restart my computer and that frees everything up and off I go. When working from home for my job I run a VPN and an emulator for the mainframe and while I can go all day I shutdown when I am done. If I get hung up while working I reboot and continue.
This all my opinion of course and you are welcome to comment with your opinion.
When I gave over administration duties to my manual traffic exchange Penguin Traffic I did so thinking that the site would probably be ran better by someone else. That still may be true but I am trying harder than I ever thought I would to make it a success. At the very least I would like to keep it from being a failure.
It is amazing to me that I am having so many issues that I would never have thought of until I took over Penguin Traffic and tried to just keep up on the payments due the members. Thanks to a kind gentleman, who seems to have gone offline, I was able to turn on a flag that gave the members a Cash Earnings page. Now they would be able to see their payments right on the site and not in a manually sent email.
I think the biggest lesson I have learned is that this really is not for everyone. My own family thinks this is basically a waste of time and because of life events they were right. But things are starting to turn around and soon I will no longer be an employee. Because that is what it is about for me. I have a great job and I work with great people but it is not what I want to do anymore.
The other big lesson I have learned is to trust myself. When I was responsible for my children I never felt that I could ask them to go without because Daddy wanted to own a business and be a businessman and not an employee. I think it was the right decision. But now I see that I was right about a lot of things and I have learned what I need to know to make this work. At this point it is just a matter of turning in my two week notice.
Penguin Traffic is just the beginning and now that Albert has returned I can start focusing on my next traffic exchange. Thanks to Albert I know how to make these work and I do not see a better membership site to start with than a TE. As I learn more I may change that opinion but for now running the Penguin Traffic traffic exchange is enough and let the promotions begin.
I don’t need to put a link because it is on page one of all the search engines. OK maybe just Google but that will do.
It was about five years ago that I went to the library and took a book out on using Twitter for business. Obviously I did not learn much or if I did I did not put it to use. However I did eventually sign up. I think I have one of those Twitter buttons somewhere on this blog. If I do not have one I will be sure and add it.
I love people and want to help everyone learn at LEAST as much as I do about improving their life. I think Twitter might be a good way to let people know about how I am living on clicks and how they can too.
I am starting to find my rhythm without trying now that I have finally accepted that my niche “living on clicks” is worth pursuing and that I am among a very large crowd of people in this “niche”. I am happy to report that most of those I am following and who are following me are online entrepreneurs.
I am trying to become more of a social butterfly and Twitter seems to be a good place to start.
The title of this post “Living On Clicks” is something that popped into my head one day after I was trying to put a name on the “niche” I want to be in. When I really thought about it saying I want to do Traffic Exchanges, Safe Lists, Down Line Builders and Paid To Click sites while more descriptive is quite a mouthful. I really like the ring of “Living On Clicks” and feel it describes exactly what I am doing, at least in my online endeavors.
This has all started because of this young lady out of Cincinnati Ohio who was telling me I needed to “Niche it down” and then “Niche it down a little more”. Her name is Amy Schmittauer and her site is Savvy Sexy Social and she has created her brand using You Tube. You can click on either link above and you will be taken to her site. I believe you should always give credit where credit is due and that is why I wanted to give her the credit I believe she deserves.
So now as I pursue my online business I will be referring to my niche as “Living On Clicks”.
To further give credit I would say that Affiliate Funnel gives me the most bang for the buck or to put it another way gives me the most value for the dollars I spend. By going gold and spending a measly $4.95 a month you can learn what you need to get started today.
As I learn more about making money on the internet the clearer the picture is becoming. Recognizing the similarities between the different business models will help you immensely. At least I know that it has me and one of the things that is quite clear is the need for your own product or service. Having upgraded members at Adkreator and Traffic Wave is my product and those are just two examples of the hundreds of sites that will pay me if you sign up through my link and then upgrade. Some sites also share your downlines purchases.
Living on clicks is not only a real way to make money I believe it will become an accepted business model by even more than hosting companies and autoresponder services and I am pretty sure it already has.
It can be lonely on the internet if you are trying to earn enough money to replace your job. It can be even more lonely if you are using traffic exchanges. No one I know wants to even try this. I have mustered the courage to ask a few people if they would join me at just one traffic exchange that is located here in Ohio and only one person was interested and they stopped when they got a job. Lucky for me I am never lonely even when I am alone and since no one I know cares about creating an online business I keep it to myself. What no one I know realizes is that I have a whole world of friends who love traffic exchanges almost as much as me 🙂
Yes, I love traffic exchanges and I love running my own. I believe The traffic exchange is the perfect membership site because people expect to be sold to and it is in their interest to keep coming back and to promote it to build their own downline. It also does not hurt that they are some of the nicest people I have ever met.
I bought Penguin Traffic originally for my wife who loves penguins and this site http://www.buyawebsite.biz/ has pre made traffic exchanges and Penguin Traffic was one so I bought it. Then shortly after that I read a post from Robert Puddy slamming people for buying these pre made sites and not having a clue how to run them. That bothered me because I did not want to fail and I did not want to run a “bad” site. So I stopped promoting Penguin Traffic and began my long journey into learning how to run a great traffic exchange.
Then one day I got an email from one of my members, from when I was promoting, asking me if I was going to do anything with this site because obviously no one was surfing it. I replied that I was still learning how to run it and had stopped promoting it. One thing lead to another and when it was all over I had myself an administrator. This was 2012.
Albert Ivor Morin and I struck a bargain and basically I handed him the keys to my TE and let him go. He would be the admin and I would be the owner and we shared ad space. Since I think you should find good people and then let them go whether it is an employee or a partner. So Albert had no restrictions and he wanted to make a thousand millionaires and if the Penguin helped him do that then that would be good for the both of us. I did not pay that much attention as I was working on my SFI business and TETraining and trying to get signups that get us paid.
Since I don’t want to write Albert’s story, in case he may want to one day, I will just skip to May of 2015.
I had to take over Penguin Traffic and I am ready. Albert had a brilliant idea in wanting to pay people to surf and I think he hit on just the right amount – 3 cents for 50 pages.
The weekly webinars over at Affiliate Funnel are filled with some of the best “golden nuggets” you could ever ask for. Today’s topic was something that affects me and might be something you are affected by too and that is FOCUS.
This is the first time in quite a while that I have actually started making changes based on information I learned at a webinar. Thank You, Marci Jones.
So for now I encourage you to check it out and see if it doesn’t help you too. Just click on the link above and enjoy and I will get some chores done and come back later to tell you more. 🙂
I seriously doubt that I was learning anything unique about what it took to make money online when I first started. Just like you I was learning that the money was in the follow up and that you need to build a leads list. That lesson was reinforced for me when I remembered watching the movie “Glengarry Glen Ross” where the “leads list” is so valuable it is stolen. So I wanted to build both paid and free lists and see which ones worked better.
For the paid list I set up an advertising campaign using PPC and a few other paid methods like solo ads and article marketing where I hired a writer to create articles specific to my campaign. Eventually my list grew to over 600 people but cost over a thousand dollars and unfortunately my follow up campaign was a dud because I only got 2 sales. Along the way I lost my writer and was surprised to find that I didn’t care if I hired another one because she was pure gold and
Actually before I did the paid list approach I had already discovered Traffic Exchanges and I went in big and joined about 60 plus. The program was called TETactics and I saw it as the way to build my free list. What I discovered is the same thing that works for building paid lists works for TE’s BUT and this is important, you have to give everything away and making money is totally different than when you build a paid list.
After looking at the different methods used for making money using TE’s I decided that owning a TE was the best way to go and so I purchased Penguin Traffic. My reasoning was that it appeared you could make money by adding all your banner ads and promotions to your homepage and then all you needed to do was promote your TE and “BAM” you could make money from your site and from your ads. I truly believe this works but it takes sooo long to start making profit that it is not something you can recommend to others who need the money sooner. Unfortunately that included me, a self professed “shiny object” seeker who buys everything jumps from program to program and makes little to no money 🙂
It took me awhile to get disciplined enough to handle the sheer amount of time and effort it takes to make money online using Traffic Exchanges. Many people will tell you that they are a waste of time but I disagree and have found that just getting traction helps keep you going and the goals you set need to start very small and build over time. That to me is what makes them a worthwhile investment because I can slowly build my presence and find people who can make money following my advice and allow me to also make money.
The same holds true for Safe Lists. They are great way to learn how to write effective emails. Later on you can communicate with your downline and allow them to earn credits which gives them even more incentive to pay attention to what you are telling them.
My favorite Safe List is State Of The Art Mailer also know as SOTAM. I have been a member there for a long time and they seem to have active people willing to try your program.
To help you keep your Traffic Exchange and Safelist empire under control you can follow the guidance found in the ebook GetOrganized.pdf by Carol Walczak. She also allows you to rebrand this PDF and then give it away so you can build your list. Not only that but the site has some awesome deals on free credits.
